Lol, seems we got an upgrade at the car wash here, lol...
This is how God works- I became reconnected, through facebook, with a lady by the name of Linda. She is the aunt of an old flame of mine. We hadn't seen each other in around 40 years.
She saw that we were in Israel and asked us what we were doing there. I told her and through that conversation and a few others, she told us that her church wanted to support us monthly. They never met us, but the pastor, Pastor Phillip, has always had a heart for Israel and the Jewish people. We were so welcomed. The people were truly concerned for us and we know that we have gained some new prayer partners. See, sometimes you meet people for an expressed purpose...God's plans never cease to amaze me. A Jewish businessman in Chicago decided to send his son to Israel to absorb some of the culture of the homeland. When the son returned, the father asked him to tell him about his trip. The son said, "Pop, I had a great time in Israel. By the way, I converted to Christianity." "Oy, vey," said the father, "Vot haf I dun?" He decided to go ask his friend Jacob what to do. Jake said, "Funny you should ask. I too sent my son to Israel, and he also came back a Christian. Perhaps we should go see the rabbi and ask him what we should do." So they went to see the rabbi. The rabbi said,"Funny you should ask. I too sent my son to Israel. He also came back a Christian. What is happening to our young people? Perhaps we should go talk to God and ask him what to do." The three of them prayed and explained what had happened to their sons and asked God what to do. Suddenly a voice came loud and clear from Heaven. "Funny you should ask. I, too, sent my Son to Israel" ... We got to get together with our Pastor, Mike, and his wife Kim tonight. We don't get to talk a lot during the year. Time zones and schedules can mess things up.
It was so good to be able to pick up where we left off. It was friends talking.. About everything. Comfortable, no performing. Lamb's Chapel has been our home church since '85. So much a part of our lives. Our kids were raised here, our hearts are planted here. So many prayers for this little church over the years. And now, we see the pay off. Out reach into the community has blossomed. Tonight there was a Chinese auction opened to the community as a fundraiser. It was packed. So much work went into the planning, and it was so well done. Seeds planted in the community...and after spending the evening with Pastor Mike and Kim there's so much more to come. Well done you guys, we love you :) We are about one week away from heading back to Israel. Our feelings are mixed. We miss friends there, we miss the ministry, but we are faced with having to say goodbye to our kids again. It's a difficult week.
But one thing we do look forward to is Columbus Day weekend. For the past 2 years, we've had the honor of speaking at Life Chapel on this weekend. When we arrive we are covered in love. Hugs and kisses abound. We are overwhelmed by the unabashed love of The Lord. This year Pastor Ray and his wife, Patti, started the festivities by taking us to a brick oven pizza place...need we say more?? The food was soooo good and being there with them, even better. We spoke at both services on Sunday morning. Life Chapel was kicking off their missions Covention, which lasts for a few weeks. We were honored to be the first speakers. After each service, the congregation laid hands on us and sent us out for another year. Hugs, kisses, tears. After this we were invited to share a feast made in our honor at the beautiful home of a very loving and gracious couple from the church. It was a feast fit for a king. Life Chapel thanked us for our service to The Lord. They showed us His love. We were smothered :) What a fantastic weekend. Thank you Life Chapel, thank you, Lord. |
